- I’m a scientist, with graduate training in both physics and biology. I believe that both disciplines can contribute quite fruitfully to questions of atheism vs religious belief, and I will explore this idea in some of my blogs. I am also a Unitarian-Universalist, partly because spirituality is perforce a part of our lives, believers or no. As a UU, I have had the freedom to explore the meaning that spirituality, and other “religious” terms such as grace and faith, can mean to a non-believer. Finally, while I am a devoted and devout atheist, any absolute certainty about this belief is tempered by my scientific devotion to keeping an open mind. As a result, I am leery of any dogmatic theory of the universe, atheism included- and so will occasionally explore the remote possibility that we got it wrong.

Quite off topic. I was reading your "about me". It intrigues me the way spirituality plays out in your life. Would you not be more comfortable labeling yourself as an agnostic? I am just curious

I am truly an atheist, and would be quite uncomfortable with the label agnostic. But I believe that concepts traditionally associated with belief in a higher power, such as spirituality, can also be deeply meaningful for a non-believer.
you know wat guys? I fell awfully sorry 4 atheists. they are eventually gonna die in dis world and go burn in everlasting hell. wat a pity
if we are all supposed to be "god's children" then why does he allow all this bad s@&* happen? you christians say we are all gods children would you let your own children suffer pain, hunger, or any other suffering that is present in all the world to teach them to be stronger or whatever other pathetic reason you have to asnswer questions that non believers have because we are taught to think symbolically other than logically because we are brain washed by whatever religion our parents are to believe the way they do. of all the religions that there are in the world today, and they all teach different ways to get to that eternal resting place, which one out of all the 1000's of religions is the correct way to "live forever?" IT IS ALL LIES!
